suggest you to join in with the Tibetan Happiness Great Festival in
Litang, Sichuan. The Litang Horse-racing Festival is held every year
from the 1st-7th of August.

The
Tibetan area of Kham in West-Sichuan is comprised of Garze Tibet
Autonomous Prefecture and Aba Tibet and Qiang-nationality Autonomous
Prefecture with an area of 230,000 square kilometers and a population of
1,6 million people and one million among which are Tibetan. At an
average altitude of 3000 meters above the sea level, this area features
in many high snowy mountains and broad highland pastures. Here plants of
various shapes and colors and numerous wild animals exist, some of which
are rare species such as giant panda, golden monkey and takin.

Particularly this area is rich in water and mineral resources. The
religious atmosphere here is different from that in central Tibet,
because the most important lamaseries in this area are of Nyingmapa-sect
and of Jonangpa-sect. Up to now only few foreigners have succeeded in
traveling in this area.
