Kangchenjunga (Kanchenjunga) is the most romantic mountain and it covers 7000 sq. kms, which mainly faces part of Sikkim (India) and Nepal. The word 'kangchenjunga' (Kanchenjunga) means "The Five Treasures of the Snow" in the local dialect, referring to its five summits which are spread over 8,000 meters. It is also called as "Kangchen Dzö-nga", "Kachendzonga", "Kangchanfanga".

Kanchenjunga PeaksKangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world. From 1838 until 1849, it was believed to be the highest. It is an enormous mountain mass, and many satellite peaks rise from its narrow icy ridges. It is located on the border of Nepal and Sikkim, just 46 miles northwest of Darjeeling. It is the most easterly of the great 8,000 meter peaks of the Himalayas. The Kangchenjunga measures 28,169 feet and 8586 in Mts. it stretches from 27ƒ 42' N Longitude to 88ƒ 08' E Latitude. Best climbing months vary from (pre-monsoon) April to may, to (post-monsoon) September to October.

Kangchenjunga was first climbed in the year1955 by George Band and Joe Brown (British expedition).
